The LMARG art prize

Conditions of entry

The Loddon Mallee Aboriginal Reference Group Art prize is a one-off competition with prize money of $4,000 sponsored by LMARG members.

Terms & Conditions

Open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the Loddon Mallee region of Victoria.

 

A $4,000 prize will be awarded to the winning entry.

 

Entry is free and are limited to one artwork per artist.

 

Artworks in oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel, and mixed media are acceptable. Photographs do not qualify for entry.

 

Entries must include:

  • Completed entry form with a brief statement about the work (100 words max)
  • An image of the artwork (as a PDF, a high-resolution JPEG or PNG (photograph of the work). 
  • Proof that you live in the Loddon Mallee region

 

Entries to be submitted via the LMARG Website or sent to kate.glenie@lmarg.com.au by 5pm on 9 December 2022


Judging criteria

A panel of five Elders from the LMARG communities will judge the artwork against the following criteria:

  • Artistic vision – alignment to LMARG vision of self-determination and unity “our lives, our future, our solutions”.
  • Visual impact – representation of strength through unity
  • Inclusivity – reference to communities in LMARG catchment
  • Creativity and originality – use of traditional techniques relevant to Loddon Mallee

 

Acceptance of the prize gives LMARG exclusive rights to the use of the artwork including reproduction and adaptation.

Delivery

The winner must deliver the original winning artwork to LMARG by 16 January 2023.

Friday 24 December 2022 - Announcement of winner

 

Monday 16 January 2023 - Winning entry original artwork delivered to LMARG
